9AB - Tales of Mystery & Imagination - Isabela, Giulia and Victoria

 Do you know Edgar Allan Poe? He was the pioneer of the gothic Genre. He got very famous for his stories which were inspired by his tragical life. The book Tales of Mystery and Imagination  has some of them. In this book you will meet The Black Cat, run away from the Red Death, visit Usher's House, be persecuted by William Wilson and listen to the Tell Tale Heart, IF  you are brave enough. Are you? Good luck! Can you hear the bell? I'm sure I'm not mad.

9CD - Edgar Allan Poe - Mirella and Marina

     Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, in 1809. Two years after his birth, Elizabeth, his mother, died. Some time later, Edgar's father left home and abandoned his two sons and a daughter. After that, Francis and John Allan adopted him. He started studying and in 1827 he published his first book. The more people die, the more he writes stories. What may be happening? Do you think all these horrible things happened just in his life? Take a look at some of his stories.

9D - William Wilson - Igor and Victor

       What happens when you find someone identical to you? Identical in every single way? That person starts following you, wearing the same clothes as you do, interfering in your personal life and destroying your evil plans. Everything he says, he whispers and then he vanishes. It's always a fight between good and evil...  Do you want to dive in a dark deep gloomy terrible dream?

 What would you think of someone who visits you in your room every night with a strange lantern?

What is he planning? Is he a Madman or a normal person? What is he going to do in a lonely house observing an old man?

 Everything disturbs him, the old man's eyes, the heart beating, but specially the eyes.

What is he going to do with the old man? This is the mystery. Now you will have to solve it. Go!

9CD - The Masque of the Red Death - Gabriel, Júlia and Bruno

                    THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH

      The Red Death is a horrible disease which makes people bleed until they are dead. This powerful plague is taking the whole country, but Prince Prospero and his guests are inside an extraordinary castle, where the Red Death will not be able to touch them.
    A masked ball is happening in different colored rooms, but in the last one, the gloomy black room with red windows, a strange and frightening figure appears. With an icy hand, this creature takes hold of every person's heart.
     Would you be brave enough to enter the dark, terrifying chamber?

9CD - The Black Cat - Amanda and Giulia

"There is something strange about the human heart. We humans seem to like hurting ourselves. Haven't we all, a hundred times, done something stupid or evil just because we know that we should not do it?" Love can be strange and so the human mind. Are dogs man's true best friends? This story shows the relationship between a man and his cat and how the relationship can be destroyed by the evil human mind. Enter this world of horror, mystery and regret by Edgar Allan Poe.

       A young man cursed by a horrible disease. He lost almost all his relatives. Now he lives in a big old house only with his younger sister only and she has a mysterious disease. "The feeling of gloom was stronger than ever."

       An old friend visits Usher and almost couldn't recognize him because of his terrible appearance."He had a long wild hair that looked like a ghostly cloud around his head." "His skin was too white, his eyes were too large and bright and he seemed a different man." "He was a prisioner of his own fear."

    At a stormy night, a strange and unexpected event changed their lives forever.

Edgar Allan Poe was a brilliant writer with an intriguing life. Throughout his melancholic existence, he lost a lot of important people for him, including his foster mother and Virginia, his beloved wife.
He used all the pain he felt due to those losses to write his stories. That's why his books are mysteriously creepy. Reading them makes it clear that they were written by a puzzled mind.
